Meet the Team

Lizzie Bassford

Lizzie Bassford

I’m Lizzie. I’m married to Tom and we have three children Caleb, Joe and Gracie.  We are bringing up our children in a deprived part of inner city Manchester because we are passionate about sharing our lives and the gospel with the poor.  I do a little bit of work for an amazing local charity who love and care for some of the most vulnerable in our City but I also love being a stay at home Mum, serving my family and community. I love watching things grow, time to myself, writing, drinking coffee in cafes with the people who inspire me most. I LOVE people, my greatest passion is to see Gods Kingdom grow and see people being all that God created them to be. I LOVE Captivated because God really has taken this little idea and turned into something far bigger. I’m so encouraged because God is at work in us mums!

Natalie Lane

Natalie Lane

I’ve been a Youth and children’s worker for more than 18 years, and I’m currently a Schools Worker alongside my husband Andrew Lane, which enables us to express our desire to share God’s love and make him known in our community in Salford.
When I’m not in fancy dress/ dancing around or hyping up other people’s kids, I love to have fun with my husband and 2 daughters or get some quality God time whilst going for a run. I enjoy introducing people to Jamaican cuisine and have been known to prepare huge pots of curry beef, rice and peas at my home church, Langworthy Community Church, a church which seeks to welcome, serve and demonstrate the kingdom of God to those who don’t yet know Him.
I’m excited that the Captivated community can be a generation of Mums who hungrily pursue Jesus whilst encouraging each other to do so. Just think about the impact that will have on our families and communities!

Nicci Ward

I am Nicci and I’m married to Sam. We joined an Eden Team in Openshaw in the year 2000 and have stayed living in inner city Manchester ever since. We have 2 adopted kids, a very sensible 6 year old girl and a very lively 3 year old boy.

I have been a family worker since leaving university, working with vulnerable families in a local school, children’s centre and church. I now spend my time, looking after my family, sewing beautiful things, making friends in the park, and trying to keep my busy 3 year old very busy!

Recently I’ve been asking God to ‘fill my space’ with whatever he wants me to spend my time doing. I love what and who he is bringing into my life.

Rebecca Mason

I am Becca. I live in Kidderminster with my husband, Barry, and our 3 children Liv, Alex and Ben. I used to be a teacher, but since becoming a mum I’ve trained as a hairdresser. This is great as I usually work from home, so can fit it round school and activities with the children. Plus it goes a long way to keeping me sane! I love how Captivated has become such a network providing support and encouragement to so many mums, and I love the God-space and time that the worship nights and the conference creates. I find it very hard to switch off from that feeling of parental responsibility, even when I know the children are in the care of a children’s worker. So to have that time where I know my focus on God isn’t going to be interrupted by some artwork being flapped in my face, is so precious and necessary. I feel it’s really important for us mums to claim our identity in God during this stage of our lives, rather than think we need to wait until we are ‘ourselves’ again or until life calms down a bit. This is an incredible, crazy, beautiful, messy and vulnerable time to connect with God and to let that shine in all that we do in this part of our journey. It’s an absolute privilege to see, and even be a part of, Captivated unfolding.

I LOVE Captivated.

When I became a Mum I felt lost for a while wondering how I could continue having time with Jesus in the midst of feeds, nappies, sleeplessness and constant demands. This all stayed the same when I was at church but it felt even harder because I could see what I was missing. I appreciated having Thomas, an amazing gift to me, but missed out on that space to be with God. I also felt a bit lost about how to use my new life to share Jesus with those around me.  When I spoke to my best friend about this, and how strange I felt, she suggested I meet with Lizzie.  She had this dream to create a space for Mums that would give them time with God and inspire them to seek more of Him in this new season of their lives, reaching out to those around them with Jesus’s love. I haven’t looked back since.

I am privileged to be a wife to Dave, a mum now to Tom and Hope, to manage a community centre in the heart of a Salford estate and to have the opportunity of encouraging other mums through Captivated; which has reminded me how great it is to be a daughter of the King.

I’m married to Ben and we have three children Neve, Josiah and Levi. I’m passionate about seeing lives changed for the better, about seeing adults and children grow into all they were created to be whatever their circumstance.

I work part time as a Drama Therapist in schools around Manchester, I also help lead a church plant on an estate In Bolton alongside my husband.

My 3 children inspire and challenge me in all aspects of my life! They inspire me with their imaginations, their creativity and their questioning. They challenge me to have patience, how to use my time well (& not waste it on Social media) & how to follow our calling as a family unit to share our lives with people however messy that may be. I also love watching tv, generally eating & now & again exercising.

I’m new to the Captivated team but have been to the conferences which have given me space to re-focus on God as ‘just me’. I also think it’s amazing when we support, encourage & challenge each other as mums in our daily walks with Jesus. I’m well excited for all God still has in store for Captivated.
